Dr Renee talks to OK! Magazine about the importance of sleep!

Dr Renee sees people in her GP surgery all of the time. She knows only too well that sleep is crucial for mental health, heart health, healthy weight management and otehr thinsg such as libido and fertility. Whilst sleeping tablets can overcome an immediate need to get a couple of nights sleep they don’t give restful sleep and don’t solve the problen, often creating addiction. She recommends good sleep hygeine: a cool room, dark, not used for anything bar sleep or sex. So no TV or videos before bed. Reading, a nice bath, relaxation and routine. Go to bed and get up at the same time each day. If you wake and don’t get back to sleep within 30 minutes, get up, leave the room and read somewhere and then go back and try again, and repeat. This is the way to instill good sleep habits, boost your health and avoid addictive medications.
