Frequently asked questions dermal fillers

The following are some of the most common questions we get asked. Hopefully you will find the answer you are looking for here or on the individual treatment page.

If you don’t, or have a different query about the treatments and services we offer, please feel free to contact us directly either through the website, email or phone or book in for a free consultation.

What is dermal filler?

Dermal filler is a substance which is injected into the skin to plump it up, make it firmer and smooth out lines and wrinkles. Fillers are made up of Hyaluronic Acid which is naturally found in the body. Dermal filler can be used across many areas such as the lips, nose, under-eyes (tear troughs) and even the hands.

What are 'Wrinkle Relaxers'?

Wrinkle relaxing injections contain Botulism toxin which is a well recognised and used drug in many different areas of medicine with a good safety record. There is no risk of contracting botulism. We use these injections to relax muscles, banishing wrinkles and preventing new ones forming. Facial expressions will remain the same for the most part. There is little to no recovery time after a procedure. It is safe to have multiple procedures performed.

How do I know which treatment I will need?

We will always see you for a consultation before carrying out any work. During your consultation you can tell us exactly what the issue is you would like fixing and we can then advise and plan the best treatment for you.

Sometimes patients come to us thinking they need a certain treatment but in fact a different treatment would give far better results!

How much is a consultation with Dr. Renée?

Our consultations are free of charge.

If you and Dr. Renée are both happy to proceed with treatment you are more than welcome to do so there and then with no need to book a second appointment.

Can I have treatments if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. We cannot administer dermal fillers or wrinkle relaxing injections while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

I am under 18, can I come in for a treatment?

No. We will only ever treat patients who are 18 years and above.

Is there anything I need to do before my appointment?

You do not need to prepare in any way for your appointment but there are a few things to note.

  • We cannot see you if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • If having a facial treatment we will need to wipe down the area to remove any makeup

Is there anything I need to do after my appointment?

All our non surgical treatments (except dermaroller) have little to no downtime. You can even have them during your lunch break! However there are some things to be aware of post treatment.

  • If you have had wrinkle relaxing injections we ask that you do not exercise or go to the gym for 24 hours after treatment and no facials or massage for 2 weeks after treatment.
  • If you have had dermal fillers then we ask that you do not exercise or do yoga for 24 hours after your appointment. You must also not have any facial massages or use a sauna for 2 weeks after treatment.

Where is the clinic?

We have two clinics; one in Harley Street, London W1 and one in Crouch End, London N8.

Due to COVID-19, we are only seeing patients at our Harley Street premises. We will update patients when this changes.
