Fillers for downturned mouth corners

Can a down turned mouth be fixed?

A downturned mouth or  ‘sad mouth’, is something that happens naturally as we age and everything starts to move downwards on the face. It is quite simple to fix when having other areas on the face treated. It involves placing a small amount of filler under the corner of each side of the mouth to lift them and take away that permanently sad look that is created by this natural pull of gravity.

How does the treatment work?

Filler is injected underneath the mouth corners using a small needle to create support for the area.

This treatment can also be used in combination with wrinkle relaxing injections to stop the muscles pulling the mouth corners down.

What product is used?

We use a hyaluronic acid filler from Restylane. Usually Restylane Lyft or Defyne.

Will it hurt?

Not really. We use the tiniest of needles combined with local anaesthetic in the filler itself and it is a quick treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

15-20 minutes.

Are there any side effects?

As with all injectable treatments, you will see some minor swelling and redness around the area which will normally take a few days to subside. Any bruising will be transient and last as long as a normal bruise, if it occurs.

When will I see results?

Results are immediate but will improve as the swelling subsides.

How long do results last?

9-12 months.
